The World Music Museum provides visitors a greater understanding of both the music and instruments used on all seven continents. It fosters a greater appreciation of all musical cultures, and how and why music is performed within a particular culture. Through education, research, and collaboration, the Museum will promote inclusivity, and foster an understanding of the differences, and connections between the diverse musical cultures of the globe.
Mohammad, who came to Halifax, NS in 2017, is a musician and ethnomusicologist originally from Iran, where he graduated with a BA in Music and an MA in Ethnomusicology, as well as an accounting degree and an MBA. He is a multi-instrumentalist (Tar, Setar, Dotar, and Daff) and his composition and performance are focused on the music of Iran, the Middle East, and Central Asia.
